You want to be sure to put your best foot forward in your writing so use the resources that you have okay so let’s do a quick review step one again is to brainstorm and really the key point here is to get specific in your brainstorming you can start by thinking about those broad topics but make sure you are honing in on the key details to eventually get to a more specific topic of your essay when you’re doing this make sure you’re digging deep and really thinking about what it takes to make your story be unique to you so if you’re in a situation that other students may also experience ask yourself what are the details that will make my particularly particular story stand out step 2 as we talked about is to outline and this is to help you decide how to best structure your story. Learn about structure of essay and story at Robotdon.com.

The main thing about this is to ensure that there is a common thread that ties all the ideas of your essay together by having a common thread you’re better able to organize your ideas for yourself but also for your reader and that’s very important and finally step three is to draft your essay so remember as you’re writing make sure that you are showing your reader your story through very concrete details draw your reader in with these images instead of just telling them what you want them to know about you secondly again this is your story make sure that the main focus of the essay on you you can discuss how other people have affected you but make sure that you are ultimately tying it back to your own story into your own growth and finally make sure that you stay positive when discussing challenges make sure to illustrate how you’ve grown from those challenges and make sure to show the positive things that have come out from these hardships.

So before we close I just want to show you very briefly what types of resources we have available for you online if you navigate to the high school students item at the very top then drop down to the college prep scholars section you’ll see this last part right here that’s its application resources so if you click down that and you scroll down you’ll find a section on the essay that houses useful resources related to writing so we have some things in the Student Resource Center writing essays it’ll highlight getting started or how you can best talk about your experiences through the low income lens in a way that is good and some detailed frequently asked questions and then we have a blog piece that talks about what makes a college essay stand out and as you are taking you’re capitalizing on this resource the last one the quest casts so that’s good and if you go to your application manage page you’ll see that once you start writing or completing your essay in your short answers you will earn a bridge batch a writing batch to be specific.

Spread the loveYou might want to ask a question like a research question however I always caution people with questions in an essay because when you ask questions you’re losing some credibility you know if you ask too many then you’re giving all of your authority away to someone else because if you’re the writer […]
